August Bank Holiday Bonanza

So here it is, the last long weekend of the summer...
Will it be rainy, nobody dare guess, but who cares, as we have selected some of the best events happening in Greater Manchester over your bank holiday weekend and not even the “good old British weather” can spoil the fun!
This weekend sees the culmination of Manchester Pride with the Manchester Pride Big Weekend, a four day ticketed event in Manchester’s Gay Village. The event is an annual festival celebrating lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender life. The weekend celebrations feature a huge market and the brilliant and colourful Pride Parade around the city centre. Manchester Pride is one of the UK’s most prominent pride events and one of the biggest events happening in Manchester, so it's certainly something not to be missed!
Looking for even more excitement? Feel the thrill of Formula one this August bank holiday as Jenson Button and the Mclaren Mercedes F1 team stage a three day celebration of the sport. Try out the bespoke go - karting track, racing simulator and more in the Vodaphone VIP fanzone area. Finally get up close to the action on Monday and hear the engine roar as Jenson races his F1 Mercedes down Deansgate.
For something more sedate try gallery hopping around some Manchester’s cultural venues. From renaissance art to 21st century post modernism you can always find something to explore and inspire.
Want to escape the city for a while? Why not go down to the woods…
Catch the train from any East Lancashire Railway station to Ramsbottom on Bank Holiday Monday where it is only a short walk to the Teddy Bears Picnic at Nuttall Park. Pack for a full day with lots of park to explore and many fun interactive activities for all the family to enjoy, and, the best part, little ones with their cuddly furry friends get to travel free!
So weather not withstanding, go out and enjoy the last long weekend of the summer before the excitement of the new autumn cultural calendar…
