Around Greater Manchester
Greater Manchester posesses an excellent public transport system. With an extensive rail network, the Metrolink tram system and plenty of bus routes (including one of the busiest bus routes in Europe along Oxford Road) it’s easy to get around.
Manchester city centre is relatively compact and easy to navigate on foot. But if you get tired of walking, hop on the Metroshuttle. The free buses travel on three looped routes in the city centre, passing near most tourist and cultural attractions – check out the Metroshuttle route map.

Bus

Tram
The Metrolink tram network is a great way to reach outlying neighbourhoods such as Salford Quays, Eccles, Bury and Altrincham. Visit Metrolink for route and ticketing information. There are also four new lines planned to Oldham and Rochdale, Droylsden in Tameside, Chorlton in South Manchester and MediaCityUK which are due to open in 2011 and 2012.

By car
