All Aboard: Stories of War at Sea
Ever imagined what it would be like to be a sailor? Well jump aboard and test your sea legs at this major new exhibition for families at the Imperial War Museum North.
IWMN’s first ever large-scale exhibition based on wartime at sea, families and visitors of all ages can get involved with hands on activities, try out some ‘Jackspeak’ and discover moving real life stories. This exhibition takes the visitor on an action-packed and interactive voyage through some of the most momentous events in British history - from the First World War to the present day. You will even get the chance to see gun damaged ships, medals awarded for bravery and clothes which were worn at the time.
Discover why you might find a reindeer on a battleship; immerse yourself in the vast scale of the oceans and ships and listen to real-life stories of adventure, bravery, suffering and survival from people who were actually there.
Shipshape Saturdays
