Manchester Art Gallery houses the city’s world class art collection in spectacular Victorian and contemporary surroundings. Highlights of the collection include outstanding pre-Raphaelite paintings, craft and design and early 20th century British art. An exciting exhibitions programme brings the best in visual art and design to Manchester.

The gallery runs a wide range of events, many of them free, from talks and tours to hands-on workshops for both children and adults. Families can enjoy the Clore Interactive Gallery and a dedicated programme of year-round special events and activities. The gallery also offers a waiter-service restaurant and relaxed cafe, a shop and full disabled access throughout.

Admission to Manchester Art Gallery is free of charge, charges may apply for special events and exhibitions.

Facilities for blind and visually impaired people:

- Free tours and workshops for the visually impaired are run throughout the year.

- Audio guides, large print and Braille guides are readily available.

Access for mobility impaired people:

- The gallery has an access ramp leading to the main entrance on Mosley Street.

- There are lifts to all floors and every gallery can be accessed by wheelchair users.

- Wheelchairs are available on request.

Access for deaf, deafened and hearing impaired people:

- Induction loops have been installed at information points and in the lecture room and all visitor services staff have been provided with BSL signing cards.

- Introductory tours to the gallery for people with hearing impairments are run on a monthly basis, free of charge.

- Visitors can request a free sighted guide or British Sign Language interpreter prior to visiting the gallery.

Manchester Art Gallery is located in Manchester City Centre - close to Manchester Town Hall.

By train: Manchester Piccadilly, Manchester Victoria or Manchester Oxford Road stations are all close to the gallery. You can take the Metrolink from Piccadilly and Victoria to Mosley Street or St Peter’s Sqaure.

By tram: Nearest tram stops to the gallery are St Peter’s Square and Mosley Street.

By bus: Main nearby bus stops are St Peter’s Square or Piccadilly Gardens. A free Metrolink shuttle bus No 3 (from Piccadilly) stops outside the gallery.

By car:  Manchester is ringed by the M60, linking to the UK’s extensive motorway network. Follow signs to the city centre. Car parking is available at the NCP car park on Chepstow Street, NCP Faulkner Street, NCP Chorlton Street or NCP Sackville Street, all within five minutes of the gallery.
