Venue Information

The University of Manchester's Whitworth Art Gallery holds some of the UK's finest collections of art and design, including modern and historic fine art, prints, textiles and a rare collection of wallpapers. These collections are displayed in regularly-changing themed exhibitions.

The Whitworth was created in 1889 to inspire the region's textile industry, give pleasure to Manchester citizens and to instruct students and artists about the visual arts. It also offers an engaging programme of touring historic and contemporary art exhibitions.

Visitors to the gallery can enjoy exhibition tours, lectures, practical workshops and concerts. The Whitworth is a welcoming place for families with free and fun activity workshops.

The building is located in Whitworth Park, an 18-acre green space on the outskirts of the city centre, and includes a gallery shop and café.
