The Octagon Theatre Bolton has been producing nationally renowned work for more than forty years. The Theatre's programme includes drama, comedy, musicals and a popular festive family show. Alongside classic plays, the Octagon has a fine pedigree for presenting world premières by playwrights such as Jim Cartwright, Alan Plater and Tanika Gupta. And the intimate, flexible auditorium can be configured in a number of ways, allowing for productions to be performed both facing the audience and in-the-round.

Admission to the Octagon Theatre is free of charge however individual events are often ticketed and have an associated fee. Please see each event for further details.

Access & Facilities
General access information:
- Parking for Blue Badge holders is available in a designated bay opposite the theatre entrance.
- There is a drop-off point directly outside the front door.
- Discounts are available for disabled people and all disabled patrons may book a concessionary ticket for a companion
Access for blind or visually impaired people:
- Audio Described performances for visually impaired patrons for each of the Octagon productions in the season.
- Touch tours of the set, props and costumes take place on the evening of the performance at 6.45pm at the Octagon Theatre (please note this must be booked in advance when booking your tickets). The tour is given by the describer on the day.

Access for deaf, deafened and hearing impaired people:
- British Sign Language interpreted performances for hearing impaired patrons for each of the Octagon productions in the season. For more details textphone 01204 520661
- Infrared system, which can assist those with a hearing impairment. A number of receivers are available, which must be reserved when booking your tickets. Please discuss your requirements with a member of the Box Office staff.
- Staff are trained in BSL.
Access for mobility impaired people:
- Flat foyer entrance, with lift access to the Main Auditorium and William Hare Bar. Most of the seating is accessible by steps; please mention any access requirements when booking.
- Seating areas are available in the reception, bar, and foyer.
- Main entrance to the theatre has wide doors and there is a ramp to the Bill Naughton Studio theatre. Wheelchair spaces are available in both theatre spaces (two spaces in the Main Auditorium, several spaces in the Studio Theatre – numbers change with different productions). Please ensure you book in advance.
- An accessible toilet is situated in the foyer.
- Leaflet racks, lift buttons, toilet facilities and the bar all have low-level access.

Directions
The Octagon Theatre is situated in Bolton town centre, within easy reach of all road links, and 5 minutes walk from the train and bus stations.
By train: Bolton is easily accessible by train, only a 20-minute train ride from Manchester and 25 minutes from Preston. Bolton station is a five-minute walk away from the theatre.
By bus: Buses run regularly from Manchester and the surrounding areas. The Octagon is a five-minute walk from Bolton bus station.
By car: From Manchester and the south: Exit the M61 onto the A666 (Bolton). Take the ‘Bolton South and Bury’ exit and at the top of the slip road turn left towards Bolton. At the traffic lights opposite Focus turn right and go straight through the next set of lights. At the traffic lights by the Balmoral Pub turn left onto Great Moor Street. Follow the signs for the Octagon APCOA car park.
From Preston and the north: Follow the M61 south and exit at junction 5. Leaving the motorway turn left and follow the road to Bolton until you reach the junction opposite Mecca Bingo. At this junction, follow the road to the left and turn right at the next set of lights. At the first ‘T’ junction turn right. The Octagon APCOA car park is the next turning on your left.
Parking
- The Octagon APCOA multi-storey car park is situated right next door to the theatre. Parking is available Monday to Saturday in this covered, patrolled and secure car park.
- Octagon Theatre patrons may park with APCOA Octagon for a special discounted rate of £2 per evening after 6pm.
- There are a number of other car parks in the immediate vicinity of the Octagon including the The Octagon Surface Car Park less than a minute’s walk from the theatre and Bolton Council also provides free on-street parking after 6.00pm located around Le Mans Crescent and the surrounding area.
