Oldham Coliseum Theatre is located in the heart of Oldham and has a rich history stretching back to 1885.

The company produces eight theatre shows a year on its main stage, offering an eclectic mix of comedy, musicals, classic dramas, new commissions and its annual traditional pantomime; a show which has delighted old and young for generations.

Alongside its productions, the Coliseum offers an extensive Education and Outreach programme allowing people from the local community to get involved in the theatre through a range of events and activities.

Opening Times & Admission Information

Box Office

Admission to the Oldham Coliseum Theatre is free of charge however individual events are ticketed and have an associated fee. Please see each event for further details.

- Monday to Friday: 10:00 – 18:00 (19:30 when there is an evening show). The Box Office will close at 16:30 on Saturday when there is no evening show.

Access & Facilities

General access information:

- There are a limited number of parking spaces on Fairbottom Street for the exclusive use of ‘blue badge’ holders, on a first come basis.

- There is a drop-off point directly outside the front of the venue on Fairbottom Street.

- Guide and Hearing Dogs are welcome in the auditorium or can be cared for by our staff. Water bowls are available on request.

- Disabled people pay concessionary prices and wheelchair users may bring an accompanying adult for free.

- All front of house staff have had disability equality training.

- If you have any special requirements, please discuss this with the box office and they’ll do their best to help.

Access for blind or visually impaired people:

- An audio described performance is available for each in-house production via infrared headset.

- Versions of the season brochure are available in large print, audio and by email. To receive the brochure in any of these formats contact the Box Office by phone on 0161 624 2829 or e-mail at boxoffice@coliseum.org.uk

- Level access throughout the ground floor of the theatre.

- A Touch Tour lasting approximately 30 minutes is available before most audio described performances. This is an opportunity to explore the stage, scenery, props and costumes. Please book in advance when you purchase your ticket.

Access for deaf, deafened and hearing impaired people:

- A British Sign Language interpreted performance is available for each in-house production. Please consult Box Office when booking a BSL performance as they can advise on the best seating position.

- Plot synopses are available on request from the Box Office. These can be posted to you or picked up from the theatre. They are also available on the Coliseum website. The Coliseum also offers infrared headsets for hearing impaired people. These should be pre-booked and are free of charge, but a £10 deposit is required.

Access for mobility impaired people:

- Flat level access through the side door of the theatre.

- A wheelchair accessible lift is in operation for studio events as they are on the first floor (everything else is on the ground floor).

- Seating areas are available in the stalls and circle bars.

- Level floors and double doors provide access to wheelchair users.

- Up to nine wheelchair spaces available for each main house performance and one for each studio performance with a free seat for an accompanying adult. There is also an accessible bar.

- The venue contains adapted toilets for mobility impaired customers.

The Oldham Coliseum Theatre is located in the heart of Oldham, Greater Manchester. The venue's main entrance can be found on Fairbottom Street, just off Yorkshire Street.

By bus: Buses run regularly from Oldham and the surrounding areas and stop close to Oldham Coliseum Theatre.

By car: Oldham is accessible via junction 22 of the M60 and is situated just 25 minutes drive from Manchester City Centre.

- Bradshaw Street carpark is only 200 yards away from the theatre and is open to Coliseum customers from 6pm whenever there is an evening performance. Parking is free to season ticket holders who must clearly display their pass and just £1.50 to all other users. The car park is run by the local authority and their rules apply at all times.
