Chitty Chitty Bang Bang arrives at The Lowry

Reviewed by our Age Friendly Manchester contributor Ian Sawyer.

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang was the first film I remember seeing as a full family way back in 1968.  It gave me goosebumps reliving the memory of nearly 50 years ago.  Who’d have thought back then one day you would see a flying car in a theatre?

What a superb, stunning, fantasmagorical production this is.  A reproduction of a classic with outstanding performances from all cast members.  Claire Sweeney excels in her role as Baroness Bomburst.  Those of you that enjoy stand up comedy now see two of the country’s best, in Jason Manford and Phil Jupitus, in a totally different environment within a stage musical. I was smiling from the moment the show started to leaving the theatre.  Once again the theatre staff enhanced the thrill of a visit to this stunning venue.

The Lowry do a wonderful deal for those with a disability by offering a free ticket for our companion. To book these tickets, give the theatre a call and you can book them over the phone.  You can also hire mobility scooters to help with any mobility needs you may have.
