On these dark cold evenings banish the winter blues and enjoy some uplifting musical events near you. Here are four of our picks coming up in the next few weeks:
Film screening of Landfill Harmonic at Band on the Wall on Friday 13 January, 7 pm. An uplifting film about ‘The Recycled Orchestra’, a group of children from a Paraguayan slum who play instruments made entirely of rubbish. It’s a beautiful story about the transformative power of music, tickets £8 – £10.
Night Moves live at Soup Kitchen on Saturday 14 January, 7.30 pm. Supported by guests Cairobi. Night Moves are a 4-piece from Minneapolis playing electro countrified rock. Reviewed in the past for tight live performances, this promises to be a great opportunity to see some quality live music for under £10.
Don’t miss an eclectic mix of performances at The Bridgewater Hall as part of Craig Ogden’s Guitar Weekend, 20 – 22 January. Including a film screening of Musicwood; a real life adventure filled journey and political thriller. Pop-up poetry, music and sensory play sessions for babies and toddlers and live performances from lap-slide guitarist, Tom Doughty.
Manchester Camerata are collaborating with HOME in Upclose – The Next Generation to bring classical music into the present day. Thursday 2 February, 7.30 pm, HOME, Manchester.
